Drysuits for Greenland kayaks
Author Last Post
Thanks Dan!! Glad to hear you like them, because I just purchased one with a front relief zipper from kayak academy!!! Kokotat is backlogged 10 weeks though, so it will be a while before I get it.

Lisa --

Both my wife and a few of my current female paddling partners bought drysuits with the lowered relief front zipper from the Kayak Academy, who stock them this way. They supply the required funnels with the suits.

Good luck!

Looks like the Meridian Goretex is what I have (I couldn't find the model name in the suit, and I purchased it several years ago).
Thanks Jane...yes I was thinking about getting tha front relief zipper...which kokotat do you have?

Hey Lisa! From one woman to another.... I use a Kokotat Dry suit with front zipper (like a men's dry suit), but I told them I was a female and the zipper was placed a little differently so I could use a "she pee" (or something similar) more easily. I've no regrets with the dry suit.

Smart move.... I use that style and have no issues, other than needing to be a gymnast to get into it and zipped up.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I have heard of issues with the zipper.. along with the bulk around the waist that Christopher talked about, I think I will go with the Kokotat "Meridians" traditional zipper.

My friend Daniel has this drysuit and has had issues with the zipper leaking.  You need to have it just right.
I like the idea, but I would stick with the traditional zipper.

The switchzip looks like it was designed specifically to get stuck! I have never seen one but I would be very wary of the entrapment risk. The woman’s relief zipper on the back of their regular suit can sometimes catch for my wife.

Hello Everyone,

I am getting ready to purchase a drysuit but I haven't made up my mind on which one.  While considering a Kokotat Idol, one of my concerns is that the switch-zip might create too much bulk under a spray skirt with a smaller, lower, Greenland coaming.

I'm also concerned about a baggy fit and being able to slide out of my East Greenland without getting hung up.

Any thoughts or feedback would be welcomed!

Lisa
